How it works

gobyRIDE offers easy-to-use in-app payment options.

In-App payments

Drivers
  • Drivers post a trip and indicate the cost per seat. gobyRIDE charges an administration fee of 15% of the seat cost. A minimum gobyRIDE fee of $0.35 applies.
  • When the driver posts a trip, it will require the driver to sign in to their Stripe Account, or complete the auto-generated Stripe setup. Stripe is a globally trusted fund exchange system used by platforms such as Kickstarter, Lyft and Shopify. gobyRIDE holds no personal financial information.
  • Completed trip funds will be deposited into your Stripe Account
  • gobyRIDE charges passengers 3 days (72 hours) prior to the booked trip start, and releases payment to the driver
  • Trip cancellation is an issue for both drivers and passengers. A minimum of 24 hours’ notice for cancellation is required. Drivers and passengers will receive a trip cancellation rating score to inform other gobyRIDE users of those who may not be reliable.
Passengers:
  • Passengers who have a booked seat will be required to have a valid credit card.
  • The credit card will be charged the full cost of the booked seat 3 days (72 hours) prior to the booked trip, or immediately if the trip is occurring within 3 days (72 hours)
  • Payment to the driver will be released 3 days after the completed trip

Disputes

  • For in-app payments, the 3 day (72 hour) period between trip completion and payment to the driver is the only period where payment disputes will be heard
  • There is no dispute period available for cash transactions.

Cancelled Trips

Last minute trip cancellations affects everyone.

  • Passengers must cancel their trip 24 hours prior to the scheduled trip departure. A 25% seat trip fee will be applied as the cancellation fee, if the trip is cancelled after the 24 hour notice or if there is a no-show.
  • Drivers must cancel their trip 24 hours prior to the scheduled trip departure. A 25% seat trip fee will be applied as the cancellation fee, if the trip is cancelled within 24 hours of trip departure, or if there is a no-show. The 25% fee will be applied to the next successful trip completion.
  • If a driver or passenger cancels more than 3 trips, or is a no-show, they will be suspended from the system for 3 months.
